N/V Fleurfontein, Keermont (Base Vintages 2019, 2020, 2021)

Made using the so-called 'cordon cut' method where the stem of the grape bunch is pinched to stop the translocation of fluids in the vine and the grapes becoming overripe. They are left to hang on the vine to concentrate the flavours. The result is such a vibrant and idiosyncratic sweet wine made primarily from Sauvignon Blanc with a splash of Roussanne. There are flavours of dried apricot, quince, pineapple with hints of toasted almond, vanilla and sweet spice. There is a beautiful orange blossom character and a spicy ginger note on the finish.
