The Outcrop vineyard is a 5 acre site which overlooks Eyrie's original vineyard. It is named after the underlying outcrop of rock ridging perpendicularly to the hillside. The site is exposed north/north east but warmth seems to be reflected from the Eyrie Vineyard. There is a saline, gravelly core to the wine, as the name suggests that expresses itself through notes of soy and sea breeze. Subtle aromas of lavender, violets, red cherry and a little wild herb lift from the glass while the palate is coated with the sinewy grip of tannins that melt into the finish.
