2023 Lion's Tooth Chardonnay, Pyramid Valley 'Botanical Collection', Canterbury

Reductive, flinty, and packed with struck match characters at first pour. Lemon curd, white peach, and orange blossom emerge alongside subtle sourdough. Great palate volume, texture, and grip while remaining vibrant and racy on its feet. A wine of outstanding density and purity, there is an explosion of lemon, citrus peel, and salted grapefruit on the finish, yet remaining perfectly vertical and balanced by driving acidity. Subtle roasted hazelnut and fresh butter notes on the finish.
