Awatea is a baby Coleraine, with more than a passing nod to Bordeaux in its restraint and medium-bodied, savoury style. Blackberry and cassis, with bay leaf, graphite, menthol and rose petals on the nose. Similar on the palate, with fine, powdery tannins and some chocolate richness. Balanced and appetising.
