2021 Kupe Pinot Noir, Escarpment, Martinborough

2021 Kupe Pinot Noir, Escarpment, Martinborough

Larry McKenna was one of the first to bring Martinborough Pinot Noir to the world's attention, and his Escarpment project is going from strength to strength since Larry joined forces with Torbreck to run the estate. Kupe is likely his most popular single vineyard wine, and was the original 'home block' on Te Muna Road. It's fragrant and bright, with classic Pinot poise and perfume. There's a core of dark fruit, as well as some spicy notes, dried mushrooms, forest floor, and floral lift. Juicy on the mid-palate, with some savoury tannins providing grip and structure.
