This is the Tasmania project of cousins Shaw & Smith, who are renowned for their fine cool-climate Australian wines. The 2021 vintage was cool and quite wet, leaving a small crop of concentrated grapes. There's Incredible precision, freshness and intensity in their Chardonnay, with white stonr fruit and tons of citrus. There's always some flinty mineral character, matched by a creamy breadth on the mid-palate. This is on the more austere side this vintage, but will age in bottle into something incredibly. This really is world class Chardonnay.
