2020 The Forebear, Torbreck, Barossa Valley

2020 The Forebear, Torbreck, Barossa Valley

New release

A wine of poise and nobility from some of the world’s oldest living Shiraz vines. The complex bouquet is dominated by red berry fruits like mulberry, red cherry, and cassis, beautifully complemented by savory notes of wild thyme, garrigue, graphite, and peppercorns. On the palate, a wonderful textural mouthfeel is delivered by enveloping soft, round tannins and a cleansing acidity. This balance harmonizes the wine's modern Barossa elegance with the powerful yield from extremely low-yielding vines. It stands as a tribute to its ancestors and their 19th-century vision for grape growing and dry farming.

2021 Cuvée Juveniles, Torbreck, Barossa Valley Dry | Red | Still | 14.5%

This Rhone blend now contains some Counoise to create bright acidity, and Carignan, which adds soft black fruit character. This has beautiful aromatic black fruit, and a lifted herbal complexity. This wine is all about softness and generosity, not structure. There's a velvet texture and bright, ripe fruit on the finish.

Ready: 2022 - 2030
2020 The Steading, Torbreck, Barossa Valley Red | Still | 15%

The high proportion of Grenache in this vintage, at 65%, gives a beautiful fresh red fruit character, but there are plenty of darker fruits, richness and broad tannins from the Shiraz and Mataro. Delicious now with a long juicy finish, this is a great buy.

Ready: 2024 - 2040
2019 The Factor, Torbreck, Barossa Valley Red | Still | 15%

Torbreck's classic and traditional Barossa Shiraz. Very dark fruit profile with soy, coffee, dark chocolate and star anise. This has 2 years in 50% new French oak barriques. This drought vintage in particular is textural and grippy on the palate. This has an earthy, iron-rich feel to it, almost Hermitage-esque.

Ready: 2025 - 2045
