2016 Bin 128 Coonawarra Shiraz, Penfolds, South Australia

There’s lovely fruit on the nose. Cool and brambly, lovely plummy character and those fine tannins. Pretty punchy and serious, and an iron oxide character: you could even call it slightly rusty on the finish. Really nice density, and the acidity lifts and drives the wine forward.

TASTING NOTES

Sourced exclusively from Coonawarra, the 2016 Bin 128 Shiraz is one of the few truly regional bottlings you'll find from Penfolds. It's red-fruited and bright, with raspberries and cherries couched in supple layers of French oak. Caramel and mocha shadings add richness and depth, with dry cedary-savory notes on the finish.
