2001 The McRae Wood Shiraz, Jim Barry, Clare Valley (2024 release)

2001 The McRae Wood Shiraz, Jim Barry, Clare Valley (2024 release)

New release

The McRae Wood Shiraz is undoubtedly the hidden gem in the Jim Barry range. It's made from grapes declassified from The Armagh, the family's most celebrated wine, and blended with fruit from special parcels from the family’s other Clare Valley vineyards. This 2001, unusually, is bottled under cork, and was recently re-corked at the estate. It has lots of complex leathery notes on the nose and palate, around mature, fresh black fruit. Espresso and fresh black pepper create further interest.
