2018 Dão Tinto, Alvaro Castro
The Dão red is made up of Alfrocheiro (50%), Touriga Nacional (25%) and Jaen (25%) and is aged in French oak for 18 months in a mix of old and new French barrels. Expect bramble fruits with liquorice and almost garrigue like aromas. The tannins have definition and although have a grip are well integrated and provide the perfect structure, along with the wine’s zesty acidity.
