This comes from a vineyard that’s just 3km from the Ionian sea - hence its name, pronounced ‘yo’. This is dark and intense, with plenty of dried herbs on the nose, and a core of slightly savoury, dark fruit. There’s a slight bitterness - an amaro character - with hints of quinine and dried oregano. The finish is so savoury and long, with loads of salty character: this is such a thirst quenching wine, despite its power. Astonishing.
