2018 Poggio alle Gazze, dell'Ornellaia, Tuscany

A blend of Sauvignon Blanc with a little Vermentino and Viognier, this is a white from Ornellaia that shows again how this estate can combine classicism and flair. A fine-boned structure, and real energy, combined with opulent fruit, and a long, herb-tinged, vibrant finish. A surprising, and delicious, white.

Tenuta dell'Ornellaia

Here's one of the original Super Tuscan producers, the group of wines known for using Bordeaux varieties in Sangiovese country to create magnificent wines. Tenuta dell’Ornellaia was founded by Marchese Lodovico Antinori in 1981. He’s the cousin of Mario Incisa della Rocchetta, founder of Sassicaia, and brother of Piero Antonori who started Solaia at Tenuta Tignanello. So Super Tuscans, and no doubt competitiveness, run in the family.
