His name is one of the most respected in the Piedmont, and his wines are equally so. With this domaine’s access to superlative crus, coupled with assiduous if not innovative winemaking, Domenico Clerico has established his property as one of the benchmarks of Barolo. While he’s often labeled as one of the modernists of Barolo, it’s far too simplistic a label. His wines offer polish and precision, but also the concentration and intensity that more traditional bottles offer.
