Bridging the gap between Bordeaux and Tuscany, this shows the character of the latter with the finesse of the former. The Cabernet / Merlot blend and barrique ageing could only have come from the Medoc, but the warmth and generosity is unmistakably Tuscan. A lifted nose of red cherries and plums is counterbalanced by floral notes of violets. There is no shortage of juicy black berried fruit, exotic spice and fine acidity beneath the firmly structured palate but it will need a little time to unwind.
