Tasting notes

This is a fantastic wine that has seen a happy jump forward in quality. The 2013 Morellino di Scansano Riserva is Sangiovese with a 10% quota of Cabernet Sauvignon. That composition has formed a wine of depth and sophistication with a generous bouquet and full structure. Beyond the dark fruit and spice, you are treated to an elegant mineral vein that gives focus and sharpness to the bouquet. That mineral note is marine or almost salty in flavor and reminds you of the sea breezes that wash gently over Coastal Tuscany. The close shows bright acidity and firm tannins.
