2013 Rosso di Montalcino, Gianni Brunelli, Tuscany

With good depth and a classic style, this doesn’t feel like a simple Rosso de Montalcino at all. With an abundance of complexity – wild fruit, pepper, tea – there is no shortage of aromas. Laura’s delicate touch has created a pure expression of the vintage, with aromatic intensity and finesse in spades.

Gianni Brunelli

Gianni Brunelli and wife Laura had been running a successful restaurant in Siena for 10 years. But in 1987 Gianni felt the call of his hometown, Montalcino, and took over the Le Chiuse di Sotto estate from his father. He fast gained a reputation for producing some of the town’s most impressive Brunellos di Montalcino. Sadly, Gianni passed away unexpectedly in 2008. Laura now carries the family torch, and has brought her own lovely style to the wines.
