Considering the price of Redigaffi, Perlato del Bosco’s bigger brother, this wine constitutes an almost unbelievable bargain. Whilst this wine is 100% Sangiovese, rather than the 100% Merlot of Redigaffi, the brothers share many stylistic characteristics, most notably a richness of flavour and texture. Made from a Sangiovese clone perfectly suited for the heat by the sea, this is a very different animal from that found further inland, with dark fruit in abundance, accompanied by a wonderfully perfumed quality. This is outstanding.
