2012 Barolo Santo Stefano di Perno, Giuseppe Mascarello

Less well known than the Monprivato vineyard, but no less impressive, this gives a
taste of Macarello’s talent, without the punchy price tag.

2012 Barolo Santo Stefano di Perno, Giuseppe Mascarello
Giuseppe e Figlio Mascarello

The winemaking story of Mascarello started at the turn of the century when the original Giuseppe Mascarello first produced top Nebbiolo-based wines. The estate has passed from father to son ever since. Current winemaker Mauro Mascarello has lifted it to the top table of Piedmontese producers, with wines particularly prized for their clarity and precision. He uses the best grapes, from vines up to 300 years old, and takes his time to ensure nothing is rushed in the pursuit of perfection.
