2008 Barolo Fossati, Enzo Boglietti, Piedmont

Situated at the bottom of La Morra and mostly planted in 1998, this vineyard is on a limestone marl soil. The ruby colour belies the ripe red fruits on the nose, which are complemented by a savoury gamey edge and liquorice note. The high acidity and fine sandy-textured tannins give good balance to the wine, which has a long, lingering finish.
