Case Nere is by far the most brooding of this triumvirate. The colour is deep and the nose opulent, with a core of dark berry fruit, spice and tar. The palate is strong and assertive; this is muscular Barolo, powerful and yet still retaining the La Morra DNA, displaying considerable elegance and harmony. This is truly mouthfilling, with a lot of volume. The tannins are forceful and prominent, but not out of kilter, countered, as they are, by the richness of the wine. This is very deft wine making. In 2005, Case Nere is a prize-fighter of a wine. Wonderful.
