2004 Barolo Monvigliero Riserva, Castello di Verduno, Piedmont

Monvigliero is a large vineyard in the northernmost part of the zone.The colour is deep and the bouquet a captivating blend of ripe fruits, spice and a hint of menthol.This has an element of restraint: not a powerhouse Barolo but one of refined fruit and elegance. Has the good structure and round tannins which are the keynotes of 2004.This is a fine example which will show its class over many years.
