2003 Brunello di Montalcino, Mastrojanni

Mastrojanni are situated in the extreme southeast of the Montalcino DOCG and are renowned for the finesse and elegance of their Brunello di Montalcino. The 2003 vintage was extremely hot, as elsewhere in Europe, and this has added some real depth to this wine. The colour is deep and rich and the bouquet is of smoke and earth, overlain with spice. The palate is rich and smooth, very ripe, with a juicy fruit quality from the hot vintage.
