2022 P.F. Ponce, Castilla La Mancha
This 100% Bobal comes from 85 year old, ungrafted vines (‘Pie Franco’) in the La Mancha region that has a reputation for bulk wine, but has some very special old vine parcels to discover. The P.F. is made from 4 small parcels planted on limey-sand soils and once the grapes have gone through fermentation the wine is moved to old French oak barrels for 10 months and aged on its lees until bottling. The wine is characterised by wild herbs and wild florals, supported by black cherry and bramble fruits as well as firm, powdery tannins.
