2017 La Dama, Domaines Lupier, Navarra

Under 7,000 bottles were produced of this, which comes from 27 separate sites, dating back to 1903. This is one classy Garnacha. On the nose, rose petal and strawberries, and a hint of blood orange. The palate is intense and structured, with a core of red fruit, notes of cinnamon spice, and just a hint of thyme and other mediterranean herbs. For a warm vintage this is so finely judged, with wonderful acidity and a finish that lasts for minutes. Outstanding.

2017 La Dama, Domaines Lupier, Navarra
Domaines Lupier

Situated in the north of Spain in Navarra, Domaines Lupier are one of the most exciting producers we've discovered. It's a couple at the helm here: Enrique and Elisa, and they've made it their goal to uncover and rescue parcels of old Garnacha vines that dot the mountainsides that surround the domaine. With plots dating as far back as 1903, theirs are wines that balance depth of flavour with incredible texture and precision. The value they offer is remarkable.
