Planted in 1938, this has the oldest vines on the estate. Grey slate, really backward, yet so textured and intense. Loads of wind here – can have a hail effect for Seligmacher, but the Schlossberg this is more protected. Much more saline and pure, with an amazing sense of balance and vibrancy. Amazing intensity, so crystalline and so pure. Amazing phenolic character, really saline and amazing length: it’s so saline on the finish.
