2016 Klosterlay Riesling Kabinett, Leitz

Fine soils in the Klosterlay vineyard give a Kabinett that is finessed and elegant, with lively acidity. There's notes of passion fruit and peach, with saline purity on the finish. A wine for every night of the week.

2016 Klosterlay Riesling Kabinett, Leitz
Weingut Leitz

Johannes Leitz is perhaps best known for his tiny 1.2 hectare monopole Rüdesheimer Rosengarten GG (Grosses Gewächs, i.e.Grand Cru) in the heart of the Rheingau. He’s based in Rüdesheim, a picturesque town on the bank of the Rhine river, and Rosengarten is its oldest vineyard, planted since the ninth century. Leitz has grown the concern from 2 hectares to over forty since taking over from his father in 1985, bringing international renown for the winery along the way, deservedly so.
