2014 Niederhauser Hermannshohle Spätlese, Weingut Hermann Donnhoff

When you can harvest grapes of such intensity and quality from the Nahe’s greatest growth then a Spätlese is the logical outcome. Indeed, before the introduction of dry Grosses Gewächs a few years ago this was the default option, and there are few finer Spätlesen than this. Juicy and ripe with bags of concentration, power and intensity, a hint of botrytis lends an exotic complexity to the long, textured finish.

2014 Niederhauser Hermannshohle Spätlese, Weingut Hermann Donnhoff
Weingut Dönnhoff

Dönnhoff are based in the Nahe region of Germany, noted for its diverse soils, which are beautifully expressed in Dönnhoff’s single vineyard wines. The family winery has existed since the mid-18th century, but has reached its highest level under Helmut Dönnhoff, at the helm since 1971. Dönnhoff’s wines bear the standard for the Nahe, so often overshadowed by Mosel and Rheingau.
