2015 Les Châtaigniers Extra-Brut, R. Pouillon & Fils

From a single vineyard in Festigny, found in the Flagot Valley, which is part of the Marne. Here there are clay soils over limestone, and this is an ode to Meunier. It’s a wonderfully comforting wine, with notes of wild blackberries and fresh apples, and there’s a beautifully bready note, too. This is a wonderful food wine, and a true vin de terroir.
