80% Chardonnay and 20% Pinot Noir from 60 year old premier cru vineyards in Rilly-la-Montagne, in the heart of the Montagne de Reims. The nose is all citrus and wild flowers, and still so youthful. This is a taut, scintillating expression of a fantastic vintage. The palate is acid driven, with some tense orchard fruit weight. Complex and powerful, it will do well with a few years in bottle, and reward the patient. It is a testament to the extraordinary talents of Laurent Champs at Vilmart.
