Vilmart's 2010 Grand Cellier Rubis is superb. Classically austere - in the best sense of the word - brisk, and steely, the 2010 boasts magnificent energy and tons of pure, mineral-driven cut. Readers who enjoy focused Champagnes will adore the 2010. A host of cranberry, blood orange, mint and cinnamon are some of the signatures. This is an especially airy, weightless Rosé built on energy and tension. The 2010 could use another 6-12 months to unwind, but it is pretty impressive, even today. The Grand Cellier Rubis is 60% Pinot Noir and 40% Chardonnay.
