2009 Bandol Cuvée Cabassaou, Domaine Tempier

2009 Bandol Cuvée Cabassaou, Domaine Tempier

Cabassaou means “escarpment” and is made from the vines grown on the lower, steeper slopes of the Tourtine vineyard. 95% Mourvèdre, it is dark and inky in the glass. The nose is of herbaceous blackberry fruit with a touch of a spice. On the palate, this is full-bodied and incredibly rich, but with a lightness of touch and a dart of cranberry acidity. The tannins are structural, but very fine – this is a serious wine with a serious future.
