2025 Sancerre La Grande Côte, François Cotat

2025 Sancerre La Grande Côte, François Cotat

La Grande Côte is a steep, south-facing vineyard located in the village of Amigny. The soil is shallow terres blanches over hard Kimmeridgian limestone. Half of the vines have been recently replanted, with the other half up to 60 years old. The yield here was the most generous in the cellar, and as a result the wine is almost dry, with an alcohol of 14.3%. Particularly exuberant, with a very overt fruit character of peach, nectarine and quince set against some more herbal notes of fennel and wild flowers. This is surprisingly open and expressive at the moment, but I would expect it to close up after bottling.
