2015 Savennieres Les Genêts, Damien Laureau

Damien has been severely affected by short harvests in the last few years, but fortunately we were able to prise this cuvée from his cellars. Damien had huge success in 2015 - notable even in such a strong vintage. There’s lovely floral purity here, with pure citrus and orchard fruit and a long, fresh finish.

2015 Savennieres Les Genêts, Damien Laureau
Damien Laureau

Damien is a rising star in the Loire valley, but he’s not a local; his father was a cereal farmer near Versailles. Damien started his career working for his uncle, farming pears alongside a few hectares of vines. He now works with only 8.5 hectares in Savennières, the size he believes is best for his methods. Damien ploughs some of his vineyards with horses, harvests by hand, uses natural yeasts and minimal sulphur, and makes wines of striking character. He is one to watch.
