2014 Chinon, Les Quatres Ferrures, Bruno Sourdais

2014 Chinon, Les Quatres Ferrures, Bruno Sourdais

This Chinon, from a theoretically low potential site next a river, is a remarkable find. There are elegant red fruits, a hint of tobacco leaf and a defined ferrous savouriness. It's mouthwateringly fresh, with supple tannins that coat the mouth and a finish that unfurls over minutes.

Serge et Bruno Sourdais

Chinon, an appellation in the Loire Valley, is responsible for some of France’s most drinkable and refreshing red wines. Bruno Sourdais, the sixth generation winemaker at this eponymous domaine, is making delicious, delicate Cabernet Franc which offers exceptional value for money. The emphasis here is on traditional winemaking with a careful approach in the vineyard and the wines all spending a little time in oak. In spite of the humble price tag for his wine, Bruno is rightly considered one of the top producers in the appellation.
