2009 Chinon Le Clos, Bruno Sourdais

2009 Chinon Le Clos, Bruno Sourdais

This comes from a selection of old vines, planted on the hillsides around the estate. 2009 was a lovely vintage here, and this shows perfect ripeness, with dried fruit, some spice, and also notes of forest floor and dried leather coming through. Impressively long, still with lively acidity as you'd expect from this corner of France, it's a really lovely Chinon.

Serge et Bruno Sourdais

Chinon, an appellation in the Loire Valley, is responsible for some of France’s most drinkable and refreshing red wines. Bruno Sourdais, the sixth generation winemaker at this eponymous domaine, is making delicious, delicate Cabernet Franc which offers exceptional value for money. The emphasis here is on traditional winemaking with a careful approach in the vineyard and the wines all spending a little time in oak. In spite of the humble price tag for his wine, Bruno is rightly considered one of the top producers in the appellation.
