The 1991 La Chapelle is an ethereal, perfurmed, elegant style of Hermitage that is the ying to the 1990 vintage's yang. There is an almost Pinot Noir like quality to the wine but with plenty of pepper, dried wild thyme, notes of bacon and truflle. It is an extraordinary wine and shows remarkable balance and salinity. There is life and energy that flows through the palate with more and more complexity unravelling with time in the glass. A beauty.
