From a single lieu-dit on poor granitic soil, this is big and bold, but there’s an elegance too, with fresh stone and cured meat over the dark cherry fruit. The length is really impressive as the layers keep unfurling.
With an impressive female winemaker, Claire Darnaud, at the helm since 2010 (though with experience there dating back to 1996), and considerable investment in the cellar to move to the historic town centre, the wines here are some of the more refined in the region. Careful never to use more than 40% new oak, Claire is a master of her craft.
