A stunning wine, and an absolute bargain, this is serious and dark with great energy, density and concentration. A must have for every cellar.

TASTING NOTES

As to the Northern Rhône releases and I suspect the best wine from this site to date, the 2015 La Rosine Syrah VDP sports a saturated inky color as well as fabulous purity, medium to full-bodied richness and concentrated, rich notes of currants, sweet cherries, crushed rock and licorice. Deep, layered and already drinking nicely, it can be enjoyed over the coming 7-8 years.

Domaine Michel et Stéphane Ogier

One of the greatest producers of the Côte-Rôtie, the estate remains a family affair. For years, the Ogiers sold their grapes to Guigal and Chapoutier, but in the 1980s they began to produce their own wine. Stéphane started working along his father Michel in 1997 before taking the helm in 2003. He learned to make wine in Beaune, and the influence is clear: his belief in the importance of ‘crus’ within the Côte-Rôtie and vinification of individual plots leads to wines with considerable finesse.
