2015 Ermitage l'Ermite, M. Chapoutier

A very poor, stone-rich topsoil at the top of the Hermitage hill has created a wine in 2015 that is truly remarkable. With incredible fruit density and ripeness, supported by oak that is still a little obvious at the moment but that will undoubtedly bed down, the palate is massively mouth-filling. The fruit extract is all encompassing with an excellent supporting structure, with the flavours and the structure seeming to last forever. This mineral, serious wine’s last impression is a very fine texture. A tour de force.

M. Chapoutier

The name Chapoutier has long been associated with the northern Rhône thanks to the calibre of their plots around the region, but it was only once Michel Chapoutier took control of the family business in 1988 that quality accelerated it to become the world-class concern it is today. Michel Chapoutier is undoubtedly one of the greatest winemakers of our time, and has successfully extended his business to include vineyards in the Roussillon, Alsace and Australia. But his Northern Rhône Syrahs and Marsannes of exquisite quality remain the main attraction.
