2010 Châteauneuf-du-Pape, Domaine du Vieux Télégraphe

Another darkly brooding wine from this vintage, with notes of damson fruit and morello cherry on the nose. Concentrated and dense on the palate, richly fruit-laden, with robust tannins providing a considerably weight and structure. There are, however, balancing garrigue notes of thyme and heathland flowers and a zip of refreshing acidity that prevent this from becoming bruising and inapproachable. Definitely in need of some patience, but very good indeed.
