2007 Côte-Rôtie, Bernard Burgaud

2007 was a great vintage for Rhône, and Bernard Burgaud's excellent Côte-Rôtie would be a great addition to anyone's cellar. At 100% Syrah, this is a beautifully structured, if slightly atypical, Côte-Rôtie. It will very happily age for another 5-10 years, however Bernard sees this vintage as an excellent all-rounder which is very approachable now.
Deep in hue, with dark cherry and berry fruit on the nose and hints of peppery spice. The typical purity and accessibility of Burgaud's Côte-Rôtie is here, with bold fruit of finely judged ripeness. The spice and pepper hints of the nose are in evidence too, as is a marked, stony minerality. A terrific, appealing Syrah with a fine depth of fruit.
