The aromas show a fine complexity, the wild fruit characters that typify Pegau, allied to woodsmoke and scented Provençal herb characters. On the palate there is a gamey quality to the fruit, coupled with blackberry, liquorice and a savoury, meaty character. More intense than the 2006, yet revealing a fine freshness throughout, with a more evident, almost curranty sweetness. The tannins are very well expressed, fine-grained and silken and lead to a well-defined finish. Stunning Châteauneuf-du-Pape.
