2006 Châteauneuf-du-Pape Cuvée Réservée, Domaine du Pégau

Complex aromas of dusky berry, wild fruits, wood smoke, roasted meat, rosemary as well as garrigue notes tempt the nose. Similar notes on the palate along with ripe blackberry, liquorice and provençal herbs. The round, fine-grained tannins create a texture that is markedly silky, which suggests one may be able to broach this pégau earlier than most, though has more than sufficient substance and structure to ensure longevity. Very fine and appealing.
