2006 Hermitage La Chapelle, Paul Jaboulet Aîné

This has beautiful aromatics, with notes of pot pourri, dried leaves and a deep core of prune and dried cherries. The palate is soft and silky, with spice and salinity on the finish. Drinking brilliantly now.

2006 Hermitage La Chapelle, Paul Jaboulet Aîné
Domaine Paul Jaboulet Aîné

Jaboulet is one of the Rhône’s most famous names, and the house’s flagship wine, Hermitage La Chapelle, is an icon. Founded as a family concern in the early 19th century, it remained in family hands for nearly two hundred years, until it was sold to the Frey family, proprietors of Bordeaux Third Growth Château La Lagune and Champagne’s Billecart-Salmon. Caroline Frey now oversees the winemaking, and the estate has returned to the top table in Hermitage.
