2005 Châteauneuf-du-Pape, Cuvée Renaissance, Domaine de Cristia
This wine reveals aromas of ripe cherry, blackberry and fine, toasty, vanillin nuances. The palate is packed with ripe, dense glossy dark fruits, a touch of kirsch, hints of liquorice and a black olive, tapenade character. Underscored beautifully with tannins, this is a bolder style than the Vieilles Vignes, more ostentatious and forthright. There is a fine balance of intensity and definition though with great length. A true success. Just 6,000 bottles produced.
