2017 Brouilly Cuvée des Fous, Jean-Claude Lapalu, Beaujolais

One of Jean-Claude’s top cuvees, this is bottled in Bordeaux bottles after a friend in the early 2000s complained he couldn’t sell Bordeaux. When the wine flew, the bottle stuck. It’s made from vines that were planted in 1900, and the 2017 is benchmark, with fresh fruit, silky tannins, and an expressive finish.
