Montmains is a cool site, and often picked later than most premiers crus. It’s a large site, with various sub-zones of note. The Fèvre example is equal parts Montmains, Forets, and Butteaux. This combination makes for a tense, ripe wine, with salinity and a beautiful chalky freshness.

Their plots mostly escaped the hail. 15 hl/ha. Glowing lemon and lime. Lightly stony on the nose, then builds in volume across the palate, with a marine note and a little beneficial bitterness at the finish to confirm the terroir. Once again, a fine long finish. Drink from 2028-2032. Tasted Jul 2025.
The 2024 Chablis Montmains 1er Cru, cropped at 12 to 13 hl/ha higher as it escaped the worst of the hail, has good presence on the nose, with light honeysuckle and orange pith notes emerging with time. The palate is well balanced and fresh with good depth of flavor, a keen line of acidity and a twist of bitter lemon on the sapid finish. I actually might prefer this to the previous vintage. The 2024 is very fine.
