2024 Meursault 1er Cru Charmes, Domaine Ballot-Millot

2024 Meursault 1er Cru Charmes, Domaine Ballot-Millot

Cellar Circle Exclusive

Smooth, silky, bright and incisive. This wine is outstanding. The vines sit at the top of the parcel right next to Lafon’s. This location gives a dialled-up minerality, setting it apart from the richer examples produced further down the slope. As classical as they come in Meursault.

Tasting notes

The 2024 Meursault Les Charmes 1er Cru comes from the Puligny side of the appellation and sees 10% new oak. It has a tightly wound bouquet with yellow plum, wax and light walnut scents that unfurl in the glass. Just a light wet clayey scent loiters off-stage. The palate is well balanced with a fine bead of acidity, plenty of salinity, precise and linear. It lingers beautifully in the mouth as if hovering just above the ground. Real mineralité here, a superb Meursault from Charles Millot.

Pale lemon and lime. The bouquet delivers one of the more refined Charmes nose, in a vintage where the appellation seems to have done well. A lovely balance between fresh yellow fruit, refined acidity and just a little extra weight at the back of the palate. Drink from 2029-2034. Tasted Oct 2025.
