La Maltroie is one of the larger Premiers Crus in Chassagne, and Alex’s vines sit right in the middle of the village, opposite the cellar. The 2023 has a mineral, peachy length, and a tight, refined power. There’s great volume and depth and this will enjoy a long life ahead.

The 2023 Chassagne-Montrachet La Maltroye 1er Cru has an attractive bouquet with hints of praline infusing the citrus fruit. It is full of energy and tension. The palate is very pure, with candied orange peel mixed with hints of chai, marzipan and almond. It is very vibrant and possesses an enchanting mineral undertow on the finish. Excellent.
Mid lemon yellow. Quite an elegant approach on the nose, a floral edge to the white fruit, and very little oak effect. Plenty of vivacity to this, medium plus concentration with length and style. A light grapefruit note at the back, altogether a Maltroie with more character than usual. Drink from 2028-2034. Tasted Nov 2024.
