2023 Puligny-Montrachet Les Aubues, Jean-Claude Bachelet et Fils

2023 Puligny-Montrachet Les Aubues, Jean-Claude Bachelet et Fils

Les Aubues is an enclave within Puligny’s excellent Enseignères, just below Le Bâtard-Montrachet. Les Enseignères has long been on the radar of collectors as one of the sweetest spots for any village wine on the whole Côte. This village wine is much more than just a village wine. There are generous golden fruit flavours, with a hint of peach stone bitterness adding the feeling of power and structure here. A very fine, vibrant Puligny this year.

Tasting notes

The 2023 Puligny-Montrachet Les Aubues has a straightforward, not complex nose, with light apple peel and citrus scents. The palate is well balanced with orange rind and lemon on the entry and good tension with a judicious touch of stem ginger on the finish. This is perhaps a step up from the previous vintage.

Lemon and lime. Floral with lime blossom and a light honeysuckle. A thrilling energy through vibrant acidity, plenty of ripe lemons and the palate, and excellent length. Plenty of bounce to this with the extra weight of this sector. There should be enough to go round: 5 x 456 litre and 7 x 228 litre barrels. Drink from 2027-2032. Tasted Oct 2024. 5 stars.
